Hyperice

Led backend architecture for HyperSmart, the platform powering Hyperice's expansion into digital wellness products. When I joined, the API was slow and couldn't handle the growing user base. I redesigned the database layer and rewrote critical API paths in NestJS + PostgreSQL, which cut query times by 75% and API latency by 60%.

Built integrations with Apple Health, Strava, Garmin, and Whoop, each with its own auth flow and data format. All health data encrypted at rest and in transit.

Scaled the system to handle 25,000+ concurrent users at 99.8% uptime. Over 4 years this was one of those projects where I touched every part of the backend, from database migrations to CI/CD to incident response.
